 Newsletter: Veggie band members in serious rollover accident from: AV Chicago & WGN Chicago Breaking News & Sun Times also: ABC7Chicago & NBC Chicago Local chamber-pop collective Scotland Yard Gospel Choir were involved in an accident on I-65 in Indiana Sept 24, en route to the MidPoint Music Festival in Cincinnati. All six members were hospitalized after their van blew out its rear passenger tire sending the van into the median and rolling over up to 8 times. Bassist Mark Yoshizumi suffered severe spinal & head injuries & was airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition is serious. Mary Ralph, was ejected from the vehicle & suffered broken pelvis & collar bone. Elia Einhorn had head & neck injuries but is expected to be released today. See links above for more details. CureSearch MileStones Walk to Conquer Kids’ Cancer - Chicago, IL In memory of Becca who succombed to Ewing’s Sarcoma at the age of 7, her family & friends took part in a memorial walk for CureSearch Sept 12. They are dedicated vegan customers who brought Becca mac n’ cheeze & chocolate shakes in the hospital, signed with best wishes & drawings from Chicago Diner staff members. We honor her memory. Our own Lara Akerele, is currently fighting cancer and we are blessed to have her with us. Her strength & kindness reminds us to take care of each other. Please give to cancer research.

[the] Chicago Diner burger. I can’t believe I’ve never had one before. It’s pretty tomato-y (think Field Roast) and tangy, and between that and the mound of sweet potato fries, I could only eat half. (But the rest was great for dinner!) My mom got the black bean burger but she put—gasp!—real cheese on it … She got the potatoes and said they were perfect. As if the food we couldn’t get through wasn’t enough, we also split a strawberry shake.

After trekking up from hot & theme-y Orland Florida, Brandon ventured back to the first place he had ever eaten in Chicago & found a place for himself within the Chicago Diner family. Most recently at Enzian Theatre & Eden Bar in Maitland, home of the Florida Film Festival, he brings nearly a decade of vegetarian living, and a deep love for history film & music. Brandon is currently crafting the perfect marriage of aggressive & melodic music & digs Western wear and D&D. He has more tea than food in his pantry. |
