| CHICAGO PARKING TIPS | ||
If you are new/visiting Chicago, you may soon discover that parking here is CHALLENGING. That being said, it is manageable with a little knowledge. Below are a few useful tips, some that apply specifically to parking near Chicago Diner, others that apply to Chicago in general: -Pay close attention to all signs on the entire block you are parking on. -There are no longer parking meters in Chicago; pay at the ‘parking kiosks’ (which take credit/debit cards as well as coins). -You can park on the side streets near Chicago Diner for free until 6pm, except where it says ‘No Parking 6pm-6am except permit zone 383, LV-2 Cubs Night Games Tow Zone’. |
WHAT IT MEANS: Don’t park on the side streets in Lakeview/Wrigleyville (side street areas near Chicago Diner with the zone 383 signage) after 6pm unless you have a guest 383 pass (from a resident), AND don’t park on side streets marked LV-2 zone (often times same as Zone 383) from 6pm-11pm if it a Cubs Night Game. Weekdays after 6pm is conveniently when our free parking lot is available, see above. Basically, before 6pm you can park on residential side streets near Chicago Diner for free regardless of Cubs day/night games, except on days when there is street cleaning (there will be temporary signs posted on trees and poles). Again, pay attention to all signs. |
Do not park in front of fire hydrants, sidewalk ramps, yellow curbs and driveways. Do not park in front of one business and go to another neighboring business. For example, 7-11 next door to The Chicago Diner contracts with a parking lot enforcement company. They will boot your car if you leave that parking lot and go elsewhere even for 5 minutes. DO NOT LEAVE ANY BAGS, VALUABLES, BACKPACKS, SUITCASES, CAMERAS, BOXES OR PURSES VISIBLE IN YOUR CAR FROM THE OUTSIDE. This applies to Chicago in general, day or night, all neighborhoods. |

Bucks for Ducks – Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary |
![]() |
"Mickey & Jo" 2 rescued ducks at the DONATE SOME BUCKS FOR OUR DUCKS! go to WFAS website to sponsor an animal. "Mickey & Jo", named after Chicago Diner’s founders, are two Muscovy ducks who were rescued by an NYC resident. Both were found distressed & in poor shape, showing telltale signs of having escaped from some sort of livestock operation. Their upper bills were cut, they were malnourished and the female had a severely broken wing (which had to be amputated), most likely from being brutally kicked or struck with an object. |
Jo was taken in for care to Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary. Mickey, who proved more elusive to the rescue team was brought in later. The reaction of the pair when reunited was truly heart-warming. They ran to each other, clucking gently & ‘embraced’ by wrapping their necks around each other, much to the awe of the volunteer staff at WFAS. Mickey & Jo are now recovering and are inseparable. Chicago Diner customers donated $1200 towards their care & others. Thanks for supporting our friends at the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary. |
![]() We travelled to New York and visited the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary in 2010 abd got to see the Chicago Diner sponsored muscovy ducks named "Mickey & Jo". They are doing well and are still inseparable. Their story here. |
