Chef Jo is acknowleged as one of the finest vegetarian Chefs in the nation by Vegetarian Times & The Chicago Vegetarian Society. Chef Jo Kaucher established Chicago's popular all vegetarian Chicago Diner with her partner Mickey Hornick in 1983. Jo's early claim to fame was being included in Studs Terkels' book Working as baker Jo for $7 a day in the early 1970's - and now she's written herself into the halls of fame by authoring the Chicago Diner Cookbook. Chef Jo managed and taught bread lessons at the Chicago's original natural food restaurant & bakery, The Bread Shop.

Jo was a member of America's Natural Food team & a Culinary Olympic award winner in Frankfurt, Germany ..... 900 meat teams....one Vegan. Vegan is pure vegetarian...no dairy & eggs.
Jo's baked goods are featured at the Diner & at the Whole Foods & Wild Oats natural groceries. Jo's cuisine has been featured at the Chicago Diner tent at Earth Day, Organic Day, Taste of Chicago, North Halsted Market Days & Farm AID.

The knowledgeable customers from Chicago & the Northshore have become loyal fans of Diner favorites such as.....
